The surface tells the story.
Every factory paint job leaves a measurable fingerprint in the surface. Autoentic reads it, scores it against the original spec, and locks the result in a tamper-evident record tied to the VIN.
That's paint.
A car's paint looks flat and uniform. It isn't. At the microscopic level, every coating has a measurable thickness profile, invisible to the eye but not to an instrument. Factory paint has a characteristic pattern. A repaint, no matter how good, has a different one. That difference is there in the measurement, every time.
What Autoentic measures
Most paint inspections check a single number: how thick is the coating? Autoentic checks the pattern. The system measures every body panel and compares the thickness profile against factory specifications for the exact make, model, and year. Factory paint is consistent — panel to panel, the pattern holds. A repaint breaks that consistency, and the data shows it.
A system, not a tool
Connect
A wireless probe pairs with the tablet app over Bluetooth. Ready to measure in seconds.
Scan
The technician measures every body panel — multiple readings per panel for statistical confidence.
Analyze
Data flows to the scoring engine in real time and is compared against factory specifications.
Report
Results return to the app. A certificate is generated and permanently linked to the VIN.
How the score works
Every body panel is scored independently. The system compares the measured coating thickness against the factory specification for that exact vehicle, then accounts for three sources of uncertainty: reading consistency, instrument calibration, and natural manufacturing variance. The result is a panel confidence from 0 to 100 — the probability that the coating is factory original. All panel scores are then combined into a single Factory Originality Confidence Score for the vehicle.
The score becomes a record
Every inspection produces a Paint Passport, a certificate tied to the VIN. “Autoentic Certified” means every panel scored as factory original. “Autoentic Inspected” tells you exactly what was found. The record stays with the vehicle, and when it's measured again, the new result layers onto the existing history.

What this proves and what it doesn't
We report what we measured at each inspection, with explicit uncertainty bounds. We never claim “guaranteed factory original.” Read the full methodology at how it works.
