Getting started — for PPF shops
Autoentic is a paint-verification service that turns a Bluetooth thickness probe and an Android tablet into a signed, VIN-linked inspection record your customers can share. If your shop has just been approved, this page is your orientation — what you get, what the path to your first inspection looks like, and where to go next.
Step 0: Get equipped
Inspections require a DeFelsko Bluetooth thickness probe paired with the Autoentic Android app. Two paths to get started:
Already have a DeFelsko probe?
Autoentic supports the PosiTector 6000 FN3 (ferrous metal panels) and the PosiTector 200 PRB200B (non-metal panels). If you already own one or both, you're set.
→ See bringing your own probe for eligible models, then pair your probe with the app.
Need to acquire one?
Order through us. PosiTector probes ship in 5–10 business days, with returns and warranty coordinated through Autoentic.
→ Visit autoentic.com/shop or read buying a probe for ship times and policy.
What your shop gets
Autoentic is invitation-only for shops
Shops join the Autoentic network after a partnership conversation, not via self-signup. If your shop hasn't spoken with us yet, start at autoentic.com/request-access. We review every request and email you when your organization is approved.
Three working surfaces arrive with the partnership:
- A partner dashboard at autoentic.com/partner — a web surface where you see your registered probes, the bookings coming into your shop, walk-in redemption, and the technicians on your roster.
- The Autoentic app on an Android tablet — the tool your technicians actually use in the bay. It pairs with a DeFelsko Bluetooth probe and walks the technician through every inspection.
- A tamper-evident, VIN-linked record for every completed inspection — an emailed record the customer can share with buyers, insurers, or dealers, stored indefinitely on their side and yours.
Two service tiers are offered: Metal Panels ($49) and All Panels ($99, metal and plastic). The tier a customer selects at booking determines which panels the app asks the technician to measure.
The path from approval to first inspection
-
Approval email and first login. The shop manager receives an approval email from Autoentic. The manager signs in at autoentic.com/login with a 6-digit email code and lands on the partner dashboard. This is the one-time account step — subsequent sessions resume from the browser.
-
Pair your probe. On the tablet, the manager opens the Autoentic app, pairs the DeFelsko probe over Bluetooth, and verifies their identity once with a 6-digit email code. The probe is now linked to your shop. Every technician who picks up this tablet from this point on skips the verification step and goes straight to the inspection flow. See Pairing your probe.
-
Run your first inspection. A technician opens the app, chooses INSPECT, enters the VIN, measures every panel the app asks for, and submits. The customer receives their record automatically. A typical inspection runs about 10 minutes per vehicle once your shop is set up. See Running an inspection.
You can finish all three steps the same day your probe arrives.
Where to go next
- Pairing your probe — the first thing to do once the probe is in the shop.
- Running an inspection — the end-to-end flow your technicians run for every vehicle.
- Walk-in redemption — what to do when a customer arrives with a reference code from a walk-in voucher or a forgiven no-show.
- How Autoentic works — a neutral-voice overview of what's being measured and what the record looks like.
- Glossary — definitions for FOCS, DCA, Paint Passport, the four grade names, and the Inspected / Certified vehicle tiers.
